Built for photographers who sell their vision.
Where photographers turn lenses into legacies. Sell gallery-quality prints, build your professional portfolio, and turn your craft into lasting recognition.
From a studio argument to a global catalog.
ShutterVault started the way most meaningful projects do — as a disagreement. A group of working photographers were tired of stock libraries treating fine-art imagery as commodity content, and tired of marketplace tooling that prized volume over craft. Every platform in front of them was either a graveyard of unattributed work or a featureless storefront. None of them felt like a place that understood what a photographer actually does.
So we built one. The first version of ShutterVault was a portfolio site with a checkout button bolted on, run out of a shared studio in a city none of us still live in. The thesis was simple: collectors want to buy from artists whose work they trust, photographers want to sell without becoming e-commerce operators, and the platform should disappear so the photographs can do the talking. We grew slowly on purpose — adding curators, expanding print mediums, opening photographer-to-collector messaging — because the alternative was becoming the kind of place we started ShutterVault to avoid.
Today the studio is global but the principle is unchanged. Every print on ShutterVault is hand-signed or studio-certified, produced on archival-grade materials, and shipped flat in custom packaging. Every photographer was invited by a curator or by a collector who loved their work. The catalog stays small because the work deserves the time it takes to find its audience — and the audience, in turn, deserves work that was made with patience.
Three principles behind every print in the catalog.
Every limited-edition print is hand-signed and individually numbered by the photographer. Open editions ship with a studio certificate. Edition sizes are disclosed up-front and never silently expanded — what you buy is what was promised.
Photographers join by invitation, not by upload. Our curators grow the catalog one artist at a time, choosing work that earns its place and photographers whose craft is unmistakable. The result is a tighter collection and a higher signal-to-noise ratio for collectors.
We invest in helping photographers and collectors find each other — through curated collections, real stories behind each body of work, and messaging that lets a collector ask the photographer a question about a specific print. Discovery is a conversation, not an algorithm.
The work speaks louder than we do.
Every photographer is chosen by a curator — meet them.
